The Tuesday quiz
Six rounds, one picture round, and a quizmaster who will not be argued with. Teams of up to six; the winners take the cash pot and a round on the house.

There is something on most nights at the Doone, a few offers to make the quiet ones worth it, and a function room for when it is your turn to throw the party.

An open session around the fire. Bring a fiddle, a squeezebox or just a good voice — or sit back with a pint and listen. Everyone is welcome to join in.

Once a month the tables are pushed together for a three-course feast of whatever is in season on the farms around us. Strangers at the start, old friends by pudding.

Jack leads a four-mile loop up through the oak combes onto the Quantock ridge and back in time for the first roast. Dogs, children and muddy boots all very welcome.
Nothing to sign up for and no vouchers to print. Just mention the offer when you order.
Monday to Wednesday
Any pie from the board with mash, greens and gravy, plus a pint of house ale or a soft drink. The easiest way to get through the start of the week.
Every Sunday, 12–5pm
Four roasts with all the trimmings and a bottle of house red or a jug of something soft for the table. Children's roasts can be swapped in at half price.
Weekdays, 5–6pm
An hour at the end of the working day when every cask ale and draught cider on the bar comes down by a pound. No card, no catch — just turn up.
Daily, 12–3pm
A doorstep sandwich or bowl of soup with a hunk of bread, plus a half of ale or a pot of tea. A water bowl and a biscuit for the dog, too.
Your own room off the main bar, a buffet or sit-down menu, and the bar staff to keep everyone topped up.
We know these are often arranged at short notice. Ring us and we will make it work, with tea and sandwiches or a full spread.
Walking groups, book clubs, the cricket club dinner. Regular bookings are welcome and often go free with food.
Take over the beer garden with a hog roast or barbecue, a cask of something local and the hills behind you.

The function room is free to hire Sunday to Thursday when you eat with us. Friday and Saturday evenings carry a £500 minimum spend on food and drink. Buffets start at £15 a head.
Ring +44 (0)1984 555 014 and ask for Almira, or send us your date.
