A proper village pub in the Quantock Hills, run by the two people who pull your pint and know your dog’s name.

Low beams, a log fire from October to April, local ale on the pumps and a kitchen that makes its own pastry. No televisions, no piped music — just conversation.

Proper pub food, cooked from scratch by people who live here

Pies with real pastry lids, game from the Quantock estates, and beef and lamb from farms you can see from the beer garden. The chalkboard changes with the seasons and whatever the local growers brought to the back door this morning — the classics never leave.
